Pronavia 38 Sailing is Rich and Ruth... and two boats that were always meant to stay together

Rich has been sailing for over twenty years. He trained as a cruising instructor on Seawolf, and years later came to own her. Sailing is not what he does alongside other things — it is what he does, and has always done. He was a language teacher and private tutor for over 17 years, which perhaps explains why he is so good at helping people learn.

Ruth came to sailing five years ago. She got her licence, had zero confidence, and went sailing with Rich. The rest, as they say, took care of itself. She now skippers Bongani.

When Bongani came up for sale, we couldn’t imagine the two boats being apart. So Ruth bought her. What started as keeping two old friends together has grown into something we are genuinely proud of — four ways to experience two remarkable boats, built around the belief that sailing should be accessible to anyone who wants to enjoy it.

We are both visible and both present. When you sail with Pronavia 38 Sailing, you sail only with us, or those approved by us.

Ask us why we do it and the honest answer is simple. When the conditions are right and the boat starts to move, everything else falls away. You feel the wind, you hear the water, and for a few hours nothing else matters. We’ve spent years helping people experience that for the first time. It never gets old.

That is what this is for.
